VANCOUVER – Friends of a young Vancouver man recovering from a brutal attack in California organized a fundraiser Monday to help cover his extensive medical bills.
A stranger punched 21-year-old Tyler Burton after a party on Halloween night in Chico, California. Burton’s head hit the pavement and he slipped into a coma.
Friends and family thought he might never wake up, but he started making so much progress last month they took him off life support. Now, he’s back in Vancouver to continue his recovery close to home.
The fundraiser was scheduled to go from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Burgerville on SE Mill Plain Blvd.
Burgerville said it would donate 10% of the proceeds to a fund that’s been set up for Burton’s medical expenses.
