PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- An Oregon official has launched a new investigation of sexual harassment allegations against the former director of the state's law enforcement training agency.
The state attorney general concluded that John Minnis couldn't be convicted of a crime in Oregon, but Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian said Thursday his agency would conduct an investigation under state employment discrimination laws.
A spokesman says those laws are more like civil cases that can result in settlements, civil penalties or damages.
In November, Gov. Ted Kulongoski demanded Minnis resign. An employee accused Minnis of harassing her for more than a year. Minnis said there was flirting and sexual touching, but it was consensual.
