WASHOUGAL, Wash. -- A fire burned more than 100 acres near SR 14 just east of Washougal, Wash. Friday evening, firefighters said.

Brush and grass caught fire and quickly spread because of strong winds and dry conditions just before 5 p.m.

More than 30 firefighters battled the blaze, which they contained around midnight.

No buildings were damaged and no one was injured.

Authorities were investigating the cause of the fire, but they believe it may have been caused by someone discarding a smoldering object from a passing vehicle.
