PORTLAND – The family of Tommy Gann, who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Southeast Portland, held a candlelight vigil Sunday near the scene of the accident.
Gann, 56, was struck about 5:40 a.m. Feb. 14 at Southeast Holgate Street and 14th Avenue, according to Portland police. Gann was pronounced dead soon after he arrived at a nearby hospital.
Victorio Nogueda-Berrera, 57, is wanted for felony hit-and-run after his white Ford Econoline was located. He is described as 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds.
The vigil was sign of solidarity as the family waits for the man who killed the father and grandfather to turn himself in.
“I just think that he needs to come clean and tell us that he did it. He needs to come forward. That would help us a lot with the grieving process,” said granddaughter Kimberly Weathers.
“We'd always go ‘do you have candy’ and he'd go ‘no.’ We always got candy out of him,” said granddaughter Rebecca Weathers.
The girls were alongside their family Sunday night when they returned to the scene of the accident. They hoped to shed light on their grandfather’s memory and possible bring out the man suspected of killing him.
