SALEM, Or - One of three suspects accused of selling drugs within feet of three Salem schools has ties to a prison gang, according to detectives.

Authorities raided an apartment in the 4100 block of Sunnyview Road in Salem on Friday morning.  They discovered heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, drug records, and six firearms.

"Looking back at it, we kind of realized something was going on because a lot of strange people were coming by," said neighbor Joshua Waite.

"Stuff like that doesn't happen around here," added his wife, Brianne.  "But I guess we were wrong."

Police arrested Josh Benham, Nicole Carey, and Dallas Welsh for delivering and possessing drugs within 1000 feet of a school.  Swegle Elementary School, Blanchet Catholic School, and Douglas McKay High School are all located nearby.

"There's always drugs around," said McKay junior Chad Powell.  "But to have it be so big is really scary."

Investigators said Welsh was a member in the European Kindred.  That is a prison gang affiliated with the Aryan Brotherhood and Ku Klux Klan.

"That's pretty suprising to me," said Waite.  "I didn't expect that at all."

All three suspects are behind bars on $1 million bail each.
