MILWAUKIE, Ore. -- A Milwaukie woman was arrested for aggravated animal abuse after a man found a dead cat on a "makeshift operating table" inside the home where the woman was staying, police said.
Police were called just after 2 p.m. Monday to the report of a dead cat found in the home, in the 1900 block of Southeast Sunnyslope Road, said Sgt. Robert Wurpes of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
"The cat's body was reportedly strapped down to a table with jumper cables. A light hung from a bungee cord over the table. Also on the table were a wet sponge, scissors, a 12-inch straight-blade kitchen knife, a plastic razor, and a cigarette butt," Wurpes said. "The cat's body had been tampered with, including partial shaving of the body."
Ashley Fawn Guldager, 21, was in the home when police arrived. She is suspected of killing the 9-year-old cat. She was arrested for first-degree aggravated animal abuse and first-degree animal theft.
The neighbors who owned the cat told deputies it had gone missing three days earlier. A necropsy showed the cat died from asphyxiation.
