THE DALLES, Ore. (AP) -- A woman fatally struck by a train in Wasco County has been identified at Kathryn Robertson, the daughter of Oregon Health & Science University President Dr. Joseph Robertson.

The Dalles Chronicle newspaper reports the 25-year-old was hit late Sunday afternoon at a crossing in the community of Rowena. OHSU spokesman Jim Newman confirmed the fatality Monday.

A Wasco County sheriff's spokesman said Robertson was on foot when she was hit, but declined to provide additional details. Railroad officials are also participating in the investigation.

I'll be willing to bet the video on that train is "inoperable" the like the one that hit the 19 year old in Kennewick a couple months ago. Wanna BET?

This is pretty tragic.

seriouslyduh - like the trains swerved off the tracks and hit these people ? what differance would it make if a camera sees stupid people on the tracks when a train is coming , or if a person wants the train to hit them.

Pretty sad that anyone is killed by any means but there had to be a problem with her perhaps drugs, or booze or maybe a mental illness as there are easier ways to commit suicide if that were the case. In any case it is sad and snide remarks are stupid and insensitive to the her family. Remember something we reap what we sow. .

I agree silvercookie. This is the kind of article that should not have comments. KGW turns off comments on stories for no apparent reason, and then leaves them up on sensitive and personal issues like this. Pay attention KGW. The family will grieve and suffer. I wish them well. Don't worry. She is free at last.

She was one of the nicest people I ever knew. Just wanted to put that out there. Obviously there was a problem, but drugs booze and mental illness weren´t it.

I have known Kathryn very well at Dartmouth and I agree that drugs and booze were not her problem, ever. Unfortunately I have lost touch with her in the last two years. She was a very determined girl and in her way very attached to her family. I was shocked when I heard the news. I wish the family well, her brother, her mom, and her dad.
