CLACKAMAS, Ore -- A DUII suspect was arrested Sunday after police followed a trail of debris--including a license plate--from the scene of a hit-and-run to a Clackamas apartment complex.

The non-injury hit-and-run crash was reported on Interstate 205 at Johnson Creek Boulevard just before 6 a.m., according to Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings.

Responding OSP troopers and Clackamas County deputies learned a driver had crashed his car into a concrete barrier before crossing into oncoming traffic and colliding with another vehicle. The suspect then left the scene.

"Troopers found at the crash scene a vehicle bumper with license plate intact along with a noticeable debris trail leading southbound," Hastings said. Police "tracked his vehicle down following debris, tire marks, and other leaking fluid along area roads to where it was found abandoned at a Clackamas apartment complex."

The suspect, 31-year-old Oleg N. Boyarchuk, was found in a nearby apartment about six hours after the crash. He was taken to a Portland hospital for treatment of a possible injury, and then cited for DUII, reckless driving and hit-and-run.
