MILWAUKIE, Ore – An impaired driver ran his van into the bushes in front of the Milwaukie Public Safety Building while trying to elude police.

Shortly after midnight Saturday morning, Gregory A Fischer, 51, tried to evade a police traffic stop near Highway 224 and Southeast Harrison Street, said Officer Ulli Neitch of the Milwaukie Police.

During the chase, Fischer veered his van off the road and crashed into shrubs just feet from the city’s public safety building at 3200 SE Harrison Street, Neitch said.

Fischer then got out of the van and refused to comply with the officer. The officers had to use a K-9 dog to force Fischer’s submission, according to police.

He was charged of felony attempt to elude, reckless driving, criminal mischief and DUII.
