PORTLAND, Ore. -- Black Friday may be the big holiday shopping day for malls, but Cyber Monday is the busiest day of the year for retail electronic commerce in the U.S.

Online-only retailers like Amazon.com as well as traditional retailers like Staples and Target were expecting heavy web traffic again this year as online shoppers searched out the best internet bargains.

The term Cyber Monday was coined during the 2005 shopping season by the National Retail Federation.
