SWEET HOME, Ore. -- Oregon State Police are investigating a motorcycle accident that killed a Salem-area couple on Highway 20 east of Sweet Home.
Authorities say the accident happened shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday when a westbound Harley Davidson motorcycle went off the road on a curve and hit a guardrail.
Police say 58-year-old Joan Root Cote was ejected and thrown down an embankment. She died at the scene. The driver, 61-year-old Edmund Alexander Cote, was pronounced dead on arrival at Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.
Both had been wearing helmets.
