PORTLAND -- Multnomah County Chairman Jeff Cogen returned to work Monday after the scandal surfaced over his affair with a county employee last week.
Cogen did not speak to reporters when he went back to work around 11 a.m.
Spokesman David Austin said Cogen has not yet decided when he wants to speak to the media about his affair with county worker Sonia Manhas. Cogen admitted the affair last week and took time off from work to be with his family.
KGW political analyst Len Bergstein said he thinks Cogen would do best by answering the questions.
“The more the facts are withheld or the longer it takes for them to come out, then I think the more that erodes against what I think is a reservoir of good feelings toward him,” Bergstein said.
The county attorney’s office has already begun an official inquiry into the actions of both Cogen and Manhas.
