MILWAUKIE, Ore. -- A former Milwaukie student has decided to sue the school district for failing to do a quality background check on a teacher who turned out to be a sex abuser.
Former Milwaukie high school teacher Christopher Klitgord was convicted of sexually abusing a teenager for more than a year and is now serving time in prison.
The latest lawsuit blames the Clackamas School District for failing to catch a bogus background check.
Adding to the district's problems -- another Milwaukie high school teacher was on Friday charged with six counts of sex abuse involving three students.

In that case, the son of the teacher arrested Friday told KGW his father was being framed by gang members who are unhappy with him and seeking retaliation."
