VANCOUVER – Citizens came to the aid of an officer under attack in Vancouver Wednesday.

Officer Scot Hammond was trying to conduct a traffic stop at 521 SE Chkalov Dr when the suspect got out of his car and assaulted him.

Hammond fired his taser, but said it didn’t stop Reubin Buelna, who continued to attack him.

That’s when people nearby heard the struggle and came to the aid of the officer.

Buelna was eventually arrested and booked into the Clark County jail on a charge of Assault III, and multiple warrants for his arrest.

Officer Hammond was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and released.
