VANCOUVER, Wa - With heavy hearts and tears in their eyes, the choir at Hudson's Bay High School sang You Raised Me Up. It was a perfect tribute to a teacher who did just that. "I believe she impacted so many people here at Hudson's Bay High School," said senior Thomas Mikaele.
Candace Morrison, 57, was the choir instructor at Hudson's Bay. She died last week following a horseback riding accident in Hockinson. On Monday night her students composed themselves just enough to sing a memorial concert in her honor and share lasting memories. "She had the brightest eyes and they were always bouncy and happy all the time," said senior Dandy Foreman.
Perhaps nobody knew that better than Morrison's husband, Roger. He issued a challenge to his wife's students, honor her memory. "By graduating, going on to college, and being a good citizen in this country," said Morrison.
The students were also encouraged to continue sharpening the talent Morrison so uniquely developed in them.
