PORTLAND -- A police chase on Southeast 82nd Avenue ended with a single-car crash near Southeast Main Street.

Police closed 82nd Avenuefor several hours  while the crash was investigated. T

The incident began about 7:25 with a report of a stolen car and officers stopped an Acura Integra about 92nd and Market Street.

The driver sped away and officers positioned spike strips down 82nd. The driver swerved to avoid them, struck a hydrant and clipped a power pole.

A witness told KGW the car appeared to traveling as fast as 100 mph. The car's drivetrain appears to have separated from the vehicle as a result of the wreck, coming to rest some distance away.

The driver was taken to a hospital, alert and conscious. Further details were not available.
