CANBY, Ore. – A man died in a bizarre accident in Canby Sunday, while trying to fix a neighbor’s water leak.
The man fell into a trench outside the neighbor’s home. When firefighters arrived to help, they found the man dead in a hole that was about 6 feet deep. He could not be revived.
Investigators think the man fell into the hole while trying to reach a water valve.
“For this tight-knit community, it’s an awful tragedy and something that could really happen to anybody. It's not something we see very often, “ said Tom O'Connor, with the Canby Fire District.
The man’s identity has not yet been released by investigators, pending notification of relatives.
