PORTLAND -- You don't just grab money out of the till at one Burgerville outlet in Southeast Portland and race off.
Police say Burgerville employees at SE 25th and Powell chased and caught a man who tried that. Sgt. Pete Simpson says employees gave chase Monday evening and held a man until officers arrived.
Employees told police the man had ordered a drink at Burgerville, then grabbed a handful of money when the till was opened.
"Basically, the whole staff in Burgerville, they were in a panic," witness Kimmy Kunkle told KGW. "Three or four ran out and tackled the man."
At one point during the pursuit, they say the man punched one of the employees in the head, causing a minor injury. He was caught after a two-block pursuit.
Simpson says 31-year-old Dewayne Charles Taylor was booked into jail for investigation of third-degree robbery and two outstanding warrants.
