PORTLAND – Portland police were trying to determine the cause of death of a woman found Tuesday afternoon in a Southeast Portland apartment.
"Kind of assumed it would be natural," said neighbor Nathan Winchell.
A maintenance worker reportedly spotted the body of an unidentified woman in her 30s at an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Southeast Belmont Street and alerted police.
Detectives said Wednesday she died of homicidal violence.
"It's really shocking," said Winchell. "Never would have thought something like that would happen around here."
