LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Raids in Los Angeles tied to a Beaverton counterfeit ting ring netted 60 suspects and around $18 million in pirated DVDs, clothing and merchandise.

Beaverton police said their investigation with the FBI started in August of 2008 to crack down on intellectual property rights violations.

In September 2008, raids in the Portland area netted pirated merchandise and led investigators to California.

Police said they received help in the investigation from the Oregon Department of Justice, Nike and adidas. They identified locations in L.A. as distribution points for pirated goods through California and Oregon.

"I'd like to commend the police department for their good work in helping to crack this multi-state case," Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle said at a news conference in L.A. Thursday. "Their work has greatly benefited many in our city and state and led to a more than 60 arrests as well as product seizures in Los Angeles County."
