PORTLAND -- A weekend autopsy confirmed that a 52-year-old woman found dead Saturday in a Portland home was shot to death.
Police first went to the home in the 4200 block of Northeast Campaign Street at about 5:30 Saturday morning, after someone calling from out-of-state reported receiving an email from the man inside, which said he was armed and suicidal. Police were unable to reach anyone inside the home and left.
Officers returned about 7:30 a.m. Saturday when the man in the home called 911. Police talked him into surrendering and found the woman dead inside.
The 56-year-old man remained in a Portland hospital Monday, recovering from a gunshot wound. He was not in custody and his name was not released.
