PORTLAND – An armed restaurant robber was on the loose Monday after hitting a café in the Montavilla neighborhood Sunday morning.
Portland police said officers responded to the report of robbery alarm around 10 a.m. at the Ha Long Cafe, located at 8435 Southeast Division Street.
As officers were still en route, they received additional information that the restaurant had just been robbed at gunpoint and the gunman fled on foot into the neighborhood. The victim said that the suspect entered the business, armed with a handgun, and demanded that the victim, a restaurant employee, to get down on the ground, according to police.
The suspect then went behind the counter and retrieved an undisclosed amount of money and fled.
The suspect was described as an African American man with a muscular build, wearing all black clothing and a black ski mask. Anyone with information was asked to contact detectives at (503) 823-0405.
