PORTLAND - A convicted felon was arrested after pointing a rifle while on a public street Wednesday evening.
Officers said 31-year-old transient Aaron Patrick Shaffer was kneeling while pointing the rifle at something or someone at Southeast 65th Avenue and Rhone Street. Police could hear him yelling and swearing.
Shaffer appeared to be "struggling with a mental health crisis," according to investigators.
He was charged with felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful possession and use of a weapon.
