Poll:
Do you think Amanda Knox is guilty or innocent?
ROME (AP) — Italy's foreign minister says there has been no contact between Rome and Washington over the murder conviction of Amanda Knox in Italy.
The guilty verdict Friday for the Seattle woman has stirred fears of possible diplomatic repercussions among the longtime allies.
But Foreign Minister Franco Frattini has quelled any speculations, saying Monday that no criticism had come from the U.S. State Department. He said that it would be normal for Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to look into the case.
Clinton said Sunday she would meet with anyone expressing concerns for Knox. The former University of Washington student was sentenced to 26 years for the death of her British roommate.
