PERUGIA, Italy (AP) — A verdict could come as soon as Friday in the murder trial of former University of Washington student Amanda Knox in Italy.
Lawyers for the 22-year-old Seattle woman and her former boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito (sol-EH'-chee-toh), had Thursday for last minute arguments while prosecutors made rebuttals.
The two say they are innocent of killing Knox's roommate, Meredith Kercher, two years ago at the apartment the study-abroad students shared in the university town of Perugia (peh-ROO'-juh).
Prosecutors say Kercher was stabbed in the neck in a drug-fueled sex game.
Another man accused of taking part, Rudy Guede (GWAY'-day), was convicted at a fast-track trial and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
