PERUGIA, Italy (AP) — Defense lawyers for former University of Washington student Amanda Knox are wrapping up their closing arguments at her murder trial in Italy.

They are urging the court to clear the 22-year-old Seattle woman of all charges in the killing two years ago of her British roommate in Perugia (peh-ROO'-juh).

One of Knox's defense lawyers, Luciano Ghirga, on Wednesday challenged the evidence and insisted Knox is innocent.

Knox and her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito (rah-fy-EHL'-ay soh-LEH'-chee-toh) deny wrongdoing in the death of Meredith Kercher. A verdict is expected by the end of the week.

Prosecutors say Kercher was killed in a drug-fueled sex game involving Knox, Sollecito and another man who was convicted last year.
