PERUGIA, Italy (AP) — There's been a development in the Italian murder trial involving former University of Washington student Amanda Knox of Seattle.
A man who was convicted of killing British student Meredith Kercher two years ago is appealing. Rudy Hermann Guede (GWAY'-day) testified Wednesday that he heard Knox arguing with Kercher about money before she was killed.
Guede says he found Kercher bleeding, panicked and fled. He was arrested in Germany and linked to the crime by fingerprints and DNA. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
The prosecutor said Guede's story is not credible and his conviction should stand.
A verdict in the separate trial of Knox and her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito (rah-fy-EHL'-ay soh-LEH'-chee-toh) is expected next month.
