VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Family and friends will hold a public memorial Wednesday night for a Vancouver teacher killed in a hit-and-run while biking home on Sept. 15. More:
Gordon Patterson will be remembered inside the gymnasium at Hudson Bay High School, where he worked as a career and technical teacher.
The Patterson memorial begins at 7 p.m. A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26.
Antonio Eugene Cellestine, 18, a former Hudson Bay student, was arrested in Patterson's death and had been driving with a suspended license, according to police.
The teenager left the scene, ditched his car and fled on foot before police apprehended him, according to initial reports.
Cellestine's next court appearance is on Sept. 30.

The Gorden Patterson Memorial Fund has been established through the Vancouver School District Foundation. Contributions can be donated directly to Hudson Bay High School or ear-marked for the fund and mailed to the Foundation at P.O. Box 6039, Vancouver, WA 98668.
