BATTLE GROUND, Wash. – Sixty trees were vandalized in Battle Ground, Wash. Wednesday.
Several of the trees in Kiwanis Park were so severely damaged they had to be removed, said Bonnie Gilberti with the city of Battle Ground.
Of the 60 trees, 17 are located in Kiwanis Park, 30 are along Rasmussen Boulevard, eight are at Cresap Park, and five are along Main Street.
Officials estimate clean-up costs will be around $3,000 and may increase as some of the damaged trees may not survive, Gilberti said.
The city is asking for help from the public in identifying the people responsible for the damage. Anyone with information was asked to call 360-342-5242 or leave an anonymous tip on the city’s website at www.cityofbg.org/tips.
