The recycling of old televisions, computers and computer monitors for free in Oregon has begun.

Oregonians can now recycle up to seven items at a time for no charge.

The state program began Jan. 1. It does not include free recycling of keyboards, speakers, printers, scanners or other types of electronics or appliances.

The Department of Environmental Quality has worked with manufacturers, collectors and recyclers to establish more than 230 drop-off stations throughout the state, giving life to a bill passed during the 2007 Legislature.
