SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- Nike co-founder Phil Knight and his wife, Penny, are giving $5 million to Willamette University's College of Law to endow a faculty chair in honor of Penny's father, Alex Parks.

Parks graduated from Willamette's law school in 1949, specialized in maritime law and taught at Willamette from 1980 until he died in 1988.

The first holder of the chair is Symeon C. Symeonides, dean of the law school.

The Knights have given $100 million to Oregon Health & Science University, $105 million to Stanford University's business school and nearly $200 million to the University of Oregon.
