PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Oregon's Republican state chairman, Art Robinson, says he'll run a third time against Democratic Rep. Peter DeFazio in Oregon's southwestern congressional district.
DeFazio is in his fourteenth term. He beat Robinson by about 10 percentage points in 2010 and about 20 percentage points in 2012.
Robinson told The Oregonian Tuesday (http://bit.ly/1ehhz7H ) that he had filed to run.
Robinson is a biochemist who runs a scientific institute on his ranch near Cave Junction and has a national following thanks to a homeschooling curriculum his family markets and an energy newsletter he writes.
Robinson says he doesn't know yet whether he will stay as the party chairman through the next election cycle.
