EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — The University of Oregon says this year's freshman class is its most-diverse and best-prepared yet. It has the highest high school grade point average (3.6) and average SAT score (1,126).

University spokeswoman Julie Brown told The Register-Guard (http://bit.ly/16Exue0) more than one-quarter of this year's 5,225 freshmen are students of color, and 10 percent are international students.

Overall university enrollment this year is expected to total about 24,000 — slightly below the 24,591 last year.
