Boy pulled from Springfield, Ore., pool dies

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — Police in Springfield, Ore., confirm that a 12-year-old boy who was pulled from a swimming pool has died at a Portland hospital.

The Register-Guard reports (http://is.gd/KB6FyP ) that police continue to investigate what caused the death. The boy was not publicly identified.

The Willamalane Park and Recreation District operates the Splash! at Lively Park pool. It issued a condolence statement Monday but emphasized that the cause of death remains undetermined.

The boy was pulled from the pool on Friday.

Springfield police Sgt. John Umenhofer said he believed the child was from southern Oregon.
