PORTLAND -- Two men who work at a SmartPark garage in downtown Portland told police they were attacked by two men just before 6 a.m. Monday who appeared to be stealing from cars.
The men were cleaning drains at the garage at SW 3rd and Alder when they came across two men on the 8th floor whom they suspected of breaking into a car, which turned out to belong to one of the SmartPark workers.
The workers confronted the suspects and one of the men attacked them with a metal pipe. The other suspect had a handgun, but no shots were fired.
The suspects ran into a stairwell on the 3rd and Morrison corner. One of them had a backpack that was in the victim's car.
One victim was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, the other was treated at the scene.
The suspects were described as two white men in the their 20s, 5 foot 8 to 5 foot 10 with slim to medium builds and wearing black hoodies. One of them had a shaved head.

Over the weekend, a teen was arrested and accused of a string of assaults in downtown Portland. He was accused of attacking people with fists, a cigarette, an umbrella, spit, and a valet reported that he tried to steal a money box.
