EAGLE POINT, Ore. (AP) — Police in the southern Oregon city of Eagle Point are investigating a report of inappropriate text messages sent between a high school athlete and an assistant coach.
Chief Vern Thompson told the Mail Tribune (http://is.gd/jd6kol ) that police learned of the texts Wednesday and immediately started the investigation.
Thompson and school district officials declined to release the coach's name or describe the nature of the text messages.
The newspaper reports it started receiving emails about the texts during the week of Feb. 11, but has been unable to interview anyone who saw them firsthand and can confirm the identity of the sender.
