MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — An administrative judge has sided with the classified employees of the Medford School District in an unfair labor practice complaint filed against the district.
The Mail Tribune (http://bit.ly/V1ddXD) reports the complaint with the state Employee Relations Board alleged the district engaged in bad-faith bargaining in 2011 when it imposed a final contract offer on the employees.
The district faced a budget shortfall in 2011 and asked its employees for 8 percent cuts. After months of failed negotiations, the district imposed the contact on the classified staff, including a requirement that the employees contribute 6 percent of their wages to their pension accounts.
A school official and a representative of the Oregon School Employees Association both said a proposed order in the case is preliminary and can be appealed.
