EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — The Eugene City Council has picked a vacant city-owned lot for a homeless village.
The council voted Monday to select a nonprofit organization to operate Opportunity Village Eugene. The council also indicated it would approve 6-foot by 14-foot wood and vinyl structures called Conestoga huts.
The Register-Guard reports (http://is.gd/crFTOE) the village still needs a conditional use permit, so it may not open until spring.
