SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Trial begins Tuesday in Salem for a Department of Corrections employee accused of shooting at two police officers outside his home in Turner.
The lawyer for Michael Yann agreed to argue the case before Marion County Circuit Court Judge Vance Day without a jury.
The Statesman Journal reports (http://is.gd/95opqw) police responded last April to a report of a man who appeared to be intoxicated, staggering down a road.
When police arrived, they said Yann ran inside his house, and fired several shots at officers. He surrendered after a four-hour standoff.
