BEND, Ore. (AP) — The murder trial is under way in Bend for a 62-year-old man accused of killing his 28-year-old son last December in a fight at their home in Tumalo.

KTVZ reports (http://is.gd/YhvhL3) Jim Hargrave broke down in tears Wednesday as testimony began about the death of his son Steven Hargrave.

The district attorney told jurors Jim Hargrave murdered his son by shooting him in the chest. The defense lawyer says Hargrave fired in self-defense in the confrontation with Steven who had a blood alcohol level of .38 percent.

If convicted, Jim Hargrave would face at least a 25-year sentence.
