PORTLAND -- Construction will again slow weekend traffic as Interstate 5 northbound is closed between the Marquam Bridge and the Fremont Bridge, from 11 p.m. Friday night until 5 a.m. Monday.
"During the I-5 northbound closures, the I-5 northbound to Interstate 84 eastbound exit will remain open," said Don Hamilton of the Oregon Dept. of Transportation. "This is an exit only to I-84. Through traffic on I-5 north must use I-405 north."

Hamilton said area traffic will be congested in the area all weekend.
"Drivers should avoid I-5 north and adjacent freeways or plan for significant delays," he said.
The southbound lanes were already closed for three weekends over the last month. After some traffic control changes following the first closure, Hamilton said the subsequent closures went much more smoothly.
