MCMINNVILLE, Ore. -- A 10-year-old boy was struck by a car while crossing a street in McMinnville Tuesday afternoon. The boy was was transferred by ambulance to the Willamette Valley Medical Center with serious injuries.
The accident happened at about 5:35 pm at the intersection of SW Baker Street and SW Keck Drive, near the Roth's and Albertson's shopping centers.
The driver of the vehicle, Beverly Lynn Smith, 45, of McMinnville, immediately stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the on-going investigation.
The north-bound lanes of Hwy 99W were shut down during the investigation of the incident.
Initial investigation indicates that Austin Griffiths was crossing the highway within a marked cross walk when he was struck. Police say the investigation is ongoing and no citations or other actions have been taken.
