HILLSBORO, Ore. – Today is known as Giving Tuesday, a national call to donate to charity after the retail frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
The Hillsboro Hops office staff decided to help out The Inukai Family Boys and Girls Club in Hillsboro, donating time to do some much-needed redecorating.
They helped transform some rooms, including the relocation of the Peace Room, a room that supports yoga, meditation and mental health. Moving that room to a better location, will free up office space and storage space.
It will also get the Boys and Girls Club prepared to build a new teen center, in partnership with Lowes, in January.
The Hillsboro Hops, giving back this Giving Tuesday, and also setting a good example at the same time.
“We talk a lot about taking care of your community that’s one of the core tenants here at the Boys and Girls Club, is to teach kids not only are there people in service of them, but they can be in service of others as well,” said Director Rachel Parker.
“It makes me feel really good. Maybe, because it seems like we hired the right people, because they all volunteered to do this, and it makes me feel proud,” said Hillsboro Hops President Mike McMurray. “It also makes me feel proud of the Boys and Girls Club, that they’re doing things to try to advance our community,”
The Hops are also accepting donations for their Hillsboro Hops Fund, to raise money to benefit the community. You can donate anytime, here.
