PORTLAND, Ore. -- An 11-year-old Oregon girl is getting her dream wish come true when she travels to Hawaii later this month.
The trip is being made possible by the Make-A-Wish foundation's Oregon chapter and Macy's, and it was unveiled to Katie on Friday in downtown Portland in a special way.
The girl participated in a Hawaii-themed scavenger hunt around the downtown Macy's store following clues that led her to special gifts. Katie has a progressive neuromuscular disorder but loves to swim and has always wanted to swim with dolphins, something she will be able to do during her Hawaii trip.
December 11 is Make-A-Wish's National Believe Day, a national collaboration between the nonprofit organization and Macy's to grant wishes to children with serious illnesses.
