Family hopes special wheelchair will brighten boy's waning years

Family raises money for special wheelchair

PORTLAND - A Southeast Portland family is trying to raise money to buy their 14-year-old son a special off-road wheelchair.

Gillian Murr’s son Corbin is a 14-year-old Franklin High School freshman. When he was just one, he was diagnosed with a rare lung and heart condition.

He's outlived his initial prognosis. But his family says he will lose his battle eventually.

That's why Murr and Corbin's stepdad are set on giving him as many experiences as possible, like trips to the beach.

His mom says that when Corbin was smaller, it was easier to take him places.

Now, they hope the special wheelchair like the one he used at 'outdoor school' will help.

They hope to raise enough money to have the new wheelchair this fall.
