Woodburn man arrested for multiple arson crimes since 2013

WOODBURN, Ore. -- After a three-year investigation, Woodburn police arrested a 23-year-old man on Wednesday for multiple crimes committed since 2013 near the Woodburn Estates & Golf and the Woodburn water treatment facility.

Dustin Nehl is being held at the Marion County Jail and faces multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree arson.

"This is a significant arrest not only because of the threat to our residents, but to City infrastructure and public safety," said Woodburn Police Chief Jim Ferraris.

"Our detectives have stayed on this case since 2013 and have done great work following up on tips leading to this arrest."

The following is a list of the three incidents, with their locations and charges Nehl faces for each:

On Wednesday, Sept. 21, at about 10 a.m., Woodburn detectives served a search warrant at Nehl's home in the 400 block of Ben Brown Lane. Nehl wasn't home at the time, but he was arrested when he returned at around 9:30 p.m.
