Sex offender arrested for sexually abusing girls at Dollar Tree stores

ALOHA, Ore. — A registered sex offender accused of exposing himself and sexually abusing young girls at Dollar Tree stores in September and October was arrested at his home in Beaverton on Wednesday night.

Officers were called to two separate Dollar Tree stores, in Cedar Mill on Sept. 6 and Aloha on Oct. 11, on reports that a man had exposed his penis to 6- and 7-year-old girls and touched the girls sexually.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified 44-year-old Samuel T. Burris, of Beaverton, as a suspect. He has a prior conviction in Washington and is required to register as a sex offender in Oregon.

On Wednesday night, Burris was arrested at his home and charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, three counts of public indecency and one count of resisting arrest.

Burris' bail has been set at $250,000. Police said he has no connection to Dollar Tree.

Police believe there could be more victims. Anyone with information is asked to call Washington County Sheriff's detectives at 503-846-2500.
