Portland driver carjacked at gunpoint, suspect at large

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A driver was carjacked Friday evening at a downtown Portland grocery store and the suspect is still on the loose with the stolen car, police said.

Officers were called just after 7:30 p.m. to the report that the victim was carjacked at gunpoint by a suspect at the Stadium Fred Meyer on West Burnside Street about an hour earlier.

The vehicle is a blue 2006 Subaru Legacy with Oregon license plate number 478 HKF. The suspect was described as a man in his 30s, 5-foot-6 with a medium build, clean shaven, wearing dark, bulky clothing, carrying a bag and armed with a handgun.

Police also received a report that a man tried unsuccessfully to carjack a woman at gunpoint around the same time at the nearby Taco Bell. She was not harmed and the man fled on foot.

Anyone who sees the vehicle is asked to call Portland police.
