Suspect in Sellwood 7-Eleven shooting arrested

Suspect at large after Sellwood 7-Eleven shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A man was shot in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store in Sellwood Thursday morning.

A hang-up call to 911 about 4:20 a.m. from the store, at 1715 SE Tacoma Street, prompted police to respond. On their way, a clerk at the store called 911 to report that a man had been shot in the parking lot, police said.

Arriving police and medical crews found an injured man. He was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive.

The man was standing by a burgundy four-door sedan in the parking lot, speaking with the driver, who fired a gun several times, hitting the victim, police said.

The suspect then drove away and hit a tree, causing considerable damage. But it was not enough to stop the driver from fleeing.

The suspect, 20-year-old Devyn M. Julkowski, and the car were located Saturday morning near Southwest 19th Avenue and Vermont Street. Julkowski was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of assault and felon in possession of a firearm.

Police found bullet damage to the 7-Eleven and additional evidence of the gunfire and crash.

The investigation continues.
