Man shot during fight outside Salem bar

Man shot in parking lot of Salem night club

SALEM, Ore. -- Deputies are searching for answers after a shooting outside a Salem bar left one man hospitalized early Sunday morning.

With very witnesses, details about the shooting are limited, said Lt. Chris Baldridge, a Marion County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

Just after midnight, deputies rushed to the parking lot of Midnite Sports Bar and Grill, located on the 3900 block of Center Street NE, and found man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to Salem Health hospital in stable condition.

Investigators learned that four men were fighting in the parking lot when one of them fired a gun.

Detectives are searching for a green or blue, Chevrolet or GMC truck with white racing stripes in connection to the shooting. They are also searching for one of the men involved in the fight. He is described as having a large tattoo on the back of his neck and a thin line of writing tattooed on his forehead.

It is unknown whether the shooting was gang-related, Baldridge said. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the Marion County Sheriff's Office at 503-540-8079. Callers can remain anonymous.
